| | Efficiency factors describe the ratio between the amount of plasticizer required in a compound to meet the physical properties of another compound using a different plasticizer.
An efficiency factor should be applied when changing plasticizers to account for differences in the molecular weight and chemical structure of the two plasticizers.
Adjusting for efficiency factors can provide an economic advantage as discussed in "Volume Cost Savings".
The following figure provides substitution factors for eight plasticizers to demonstrate the difference between each plasticizer and provide a tool for simple conversion calculations.
